Inn at Spanish Head, Lincoln City

Since we're on the subject of Happy Hours on this site, I thought I'd mention a spot that I've often been to for lunch during happy hour hours. The Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City is a place that I've found myself often during late lunch breaks when I'm on the coast. The restaurant lounge is called Fathoms and it's above the lobby on the top floor of the hotel. After 2pm, in the bar area, they have "Outstanding Appetizers" which includes Baked Crab and Artichoke Dip, Clam or Halibut Chowder, Mini Shrimp Cocktails, Buffalo Wings, etc. for prices ranging from $1.95 to $3.95. Sometimes, they'll enforce a 2 drink minimum order, but mostly, since they recognize I'm on my lunch break they'll let that slide. The ocean view from up there is second to none. The bar and restaurant overlook the beach with plenty of window tables. If you think the storms are bad here, at the coast they are much worse. The wind gusts can reach 90mph and the powerful waves can sneak up on beach goers sweeping them out to see. From the top floor of this hotel you feel safe and warm. Warmer maybe with a couple of cocktails and some finger foods. Last time I was in there, I ordered the Buffalo Wings and Fries which was enough to tide me over until I got home for dinner. The wings were nice and meaty, juicy and very messy. The food is always very good and I can say the same for the restaurant that shares a kitchen with the bar. I decide to write this post after I found these videos online highlighting the hotel and the dangers of the wild weather at the coast.
